Forest bathing at Waldgut

Feel the magic of the forest

Forest bathing – or Shinrin Yoku, as it is known in Japan – is much more than just a walk in the countryside. It is an invitation to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the forest with all your senses. In a world characterised by hustle and bustle, deadline pressure and constant availability, the longing for peace and nature is growing ever stronger. This is exactly where forest bathing comes in – making our Waldgut Naturresort an ideal retreat for anyone who wants to recharge their batteries and reconnect with nature.

Guests feel the special effect as soon as they take their first step into our own forest: the spicy, woody air, the play of light and shadow, the rustling of the leaves. This is where a nature experience begins that appeals to both body and mind.

What does Shinrin Yoku mean?

The term comes from Japan and translates as ‘immersing oneself in the forest atmosphere’. Forest bathing has been used there as a proven method of promoting health since the 1980s. Numerous scientific studies confirm its positive effects:

Stress reduction: Spending time in the forest has been proven to reduce stress hormones such as cortisol.

Strengthening the immune system: Certain plant substances (terpenes) that trees release into the air activate the body’s defences.

Promoting mindfulness: Those who consciously walk in the forest find it easier to enter a meditative state.

Lowering blood pressure: Regular forest bathing can prevent cardiovascular disease.

Forest bathing at Waldgut Naturresort

Here at Waldgut, forest bathing is more than just a trend – it’s part of our philosophy. We want to offer our guests more than just accommodation and wellness; we want to create genuine experiences for the body and soul. Our own forest, located right next to the resort, is the perfect place to enjoy forest bathing at your own pace.

Whether alone, as a couple or with the family – here, everyone can follow their own path. Some sit by a stream, others stroll barefoot across the forest floor or place their hand on the bark of an old beech tree.

Instructions: How to enjoy forest bathing

To help you get started right away, we have put together a few simple tips:

Switch off your mobile phone: leave digital stimuli in your room. Forest bathing is yours alone.

Walk slowly: it’s not the distance that counts, but the moment. Take your time.

Open your senses: listen to the birds, smell the moss, feel the sun on your skin.

Connect with nature: lean against a tree, breathe deeply and feel the peace.

Pause consciously: Stop, close your eyes and let the forest work its magic on you.

Forest bathing & wellness – a perfect combination

Forest bathing is particularly effective when combined with wellness. After a mindful walk in our forest, you can continue your relaxation in our natural spa. A massage with essential oils, a bath in warm water or simply an evening in the relaxation area enhance the positive effects.

Conclusion: a nature experience with lasting effects

Forest bathing at the Waldgut Naturresort is not a quick wellness treatment, but an experience with lasting effects. Those who spend time in the forest regularly feel a profound change: greater serenity, better sleep quality and improved health.

For your next stay at the Waldgut, we recommend: give it a try. Take an hour, immerse yourself in the forest – and feel how nature carries you.
